Visitors from other countries require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), usually obtained by completing the IMM-5257 form.

Documents Required For Completing TRV Forms

 Applicants for a TRV will need 5 documents when they apply for a temporary visa for Canada.

  1. Proof of your ties to your native country
  2. Proof that you have enough funds for your Canadian trip
  3. ID such as a passport or country resident card
  4. A letter of invitation from your family or friends who are inviting you to Canada to visit them.
  5. Proof that you will only be staying in Canada on a temporary basis

Disclaimer: There may be other documents and information that you will be required to produce.  Individuals must obtain a TRV before departure from their home country. Individuals cannot obtain a TRV upon arrival in Canada.
