New Immigration Stream Restarting For Express Entry Candidates

The Human Capital Priorities Immigration stream has reopened in Ontario. It was last open in the first months of 2016, but was paused until now. Ontario has seen the bulk of newcomers wanting to live and work there, and this stream will attract more talented immigrants. This stream can benefit certain Express Entry candidates as nomination through the Human Capital stream gives the candidate a further 600 CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) points. This puts them at the front of the line in further draws for Express Entry.

Criteria Needed For Successful Candidates

If an applicant is picked for this stream, they will get a Notification of Interest (NOI), and then they have 45 days in which to apply, if successful they will get an enhanced provincial nomination certificate, which will give them an extra 600 CRS points when applying for Express Entry. So which applicants are likely to get chosen for the Human Capital Priorities Stream? Those who have at least 400 CRS points already and be eligible under the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades Class. Applicants must also have had a minimum of one years work experience within the past three or five years depending on the class, with the Skilled Worker Class being within five years and Experience Class within three.

Additionally the applicant must have selected Ontario as a province that they want to live in, as well as being educated to at least Bachelor’s Degree level. Candidates too, have to be able to show that they have enough funds to support themselves and their families and be able to speak French or English fairly fluently, i.e. at advanced intermediate in Canadian Language Benchmark 7 as a minimum. This immigration stream is likely to be popular with educated skilled candidates, due to its specific criteria, including only being open to people who have already created their Express Entry profile and expressed a desire to live in Ontario. It is not yet known how long the Human Capital Priorities Stream will be open for, but it is advisable to apply as soon as possible.
